How Often Should I Come?

A woman looking at a calendarRegular treatment is the key to good results with acupuncture, but how often does that mean? When someone is just starting out with treatment, I typically recommend they come twice a week for two or three weeks to see more rapid improvement. After the initial “loading dose” of acupuncture, most people can reduce it to once a week and will continue making progress, but it’s still fine to come more often if you want to.

When your symptoms are more acute or your stress level is higher, try to get in more often. When you’re feeling good, experiment with less frequent maintenance treatments, or just take a break and come back as needed. The clinic is a resource for you to use as often as you need or want to meet your goals- that’s one nice thing about working outside the insurance system. You’re in charge of your own treatment plan! For more on how often to come, check out this blog, or ask me when you come in for a specific recommendation for your case.
