Although there are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County, I have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the clinic to encourage social distancing. We are seeing a steady increase in recommendations to stay home as much as possible in an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus, thus protecting our most vulnerable populations and ensuring that they will be able to receive medical care if they need it.
Closing the business may seem extreme and is certainly a financial hardship for my family, but the data show that the sooner these steps are taken, the better our potential outcome as a community. Our decisions now have the potential to save the lives of our neighbors, friends and family members over the next few weeks. I feel I can best serve our community at this time by staying at home and making sure that the clinic does not play a role in spreading this disease.
I will most likely reopen when El Dorado County schools reopen, and I will send another email update at that time. I hope you are all staying well and taking this opportunity to rest, reflect, and reconnect with family.
The latest situation summary updates are available on CDC’s coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) web page.
